ABOUT ADAPTING TO MODERNITY

he University of the Philippines Chinese Student Association (UPCSA) aims to provide an avenue in which organizations, foundations and individuals can promote the understanding of Chinese-Filipino culture. Through a heritage month entitled Convergence: A Celebration of Chinese-Filipino Culture, UPCSA aspires to consolidate cultural events in order to establish a wider presence in the university, as well as to involve the youth through partnerships with other student and youth organizations.

As part of Convergence, a photography competition will be hosted by UPCSA to put into focus the evolution of the Chinese-Filipino culture. Adapting to Modernity aims to challenge the youth from ages 14 to 25 to capture Chinese-Filipino traditions amidst modernity. Finalists of the contest will be receiving prizes from UPCSA. The top 15 entries, from which the top 3 winning entries will be chosen, will also be displayed in a week-long exhibit at the Palma Hall Lobby in UP Diliman as part of the opening ceremonies of Convergence.
